Elon Musk sues OpenAI over Microsoft links
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research organization he co-founded, over its ties to Microsoft.
Musk’s lawsuit alleges that OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft has compromised the organization’s independence and its ability to prioritize the safety and ethics of artificial intelligence development.
“I founded OpenAI with the goal of advancing AI for the good of humanity, but I cannot stand by while it is swayed by the interests of a corporate giant like Microsoft,” Musk said in a statement. “I am taking legal action to ensure that OpenAI remains true to its original mission.”
OpenAI has not yet responded to Musk’s lawsuit, but Microsoft has issued a statement denying any wrongdoing and expressing its commitment to ethical AI development.
The lawsuit marks a new chapter in the complex relationship between Musk, OpenAI, and the tech industry at large, as concerns about the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence continue to grow.
