Amy Johnson’s Plane Fragment Finds Home at Kent Museum

Amy Johnson: Plane fragment sold to Kent Battle of Britain Museum

On Friday, a fragment of the plane flown by pioneering aviator Amy Johnson was sold to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum.

Amy Johnson was a British aviator who became the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930. She tragically lost her life during World War II while serving as a pilot for the Air Transport Auxiliary.

The fragment sold to the museum is believed to be from Johnson’s DH.88 Comet racer, “Grosvenor House,” which she flew to set numerous aviation records in the 1930s.

The Kent Battle of Britain Museum plans to display the fragment as a tribute to Amy Johnson and her groundbreaking achievements in aviation.
