Hamilton tops Bahrain GP second practice

Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the second practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix, ending the day with the fastest time.

The Mercedes driver clocked a time of 1:30.025, edging out his main championship rival Max Verstappen of Red Bull by just over a tenth of a second.

Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas finished third, followed by the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.

The Bahrain Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2021 Formula 1 season, is expected to be a close battle between Mercedes and Red Bull, with both teams showing strong pace in practice.

The qualifying session is set to take place tomorrow, followed by the race on Sunday.
