Cancelled: Star Wars Game Cut by EA

Star Wars game cancelled as EA cuts 670 jobs

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the cancellation of an upcoming Star Wars game, as the company cuts 670 jobs in a restructuring effort. The game, code-named “Project Orca,” was in development at EA’s Vancouver studio, but has now been scrapped.

According to EA, the decision to cancel the game was made as part of a broader effort to streamline operations and focus on core franchises. The company also cited a shifting market landscape as a reason for the layoffs and cuts.

In a statement, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said, “These are hard but essential actions as we focus on delivering great games and digital experiences to our players.” The company has faced criticism in the past for its handling of the Star Wars license, with fans expressing disappointment over recent game releases.

EA’s stock price dropped following the announcement of the layoffs and game cancellation, but the company remains optimistic about its future prospects. Wilson highlighted upcoming releases such as Anthem and Battlefield V as key to EA’s continued success.
