Shoplifting: Sussex garden centre frustrated with police response
A Sussex garden centre has expressed frustration with the local police response to shoplifting incidents on their premises. The owner, Jane Smith, of the Green Thumb Garden Centre in Sussex, stated that despite multiple reports of thefts and incidents caught on CCTV, the police have been slow to act.
Smith stated, “It’s incredibly disheartening to see our hard work and dedication to our business being undermined by these criminals. We have reported numerous shoplifting incidents to the police, provided them with clear evidence from our CCTV footage, and yet it seems like nothing is being done.”
The garden centre has been forced to implement additional security measures, including hiring security personnel and installing more surveillance cameras, in an effort to combat the rising number of shoplifting incidents.
Smith has called on the local police to step up their efforts in tackling shoplifting in the area and to provide more support to businesses struggling with this issue. She emphasized the impact that shoplifting has not only on the business itself but also on the wider community.
